It is a selective ß-2-adrenergic agonist and as such is a muscular relaxant of the smooth muscle with bronchodilatory and tocolytic function. It acts by stimulating the production of cyclic AMP through activation of adenyl cyclase. By definition, ß-2 agonists have more smooth muscle relaxation activity (bronchial, vascular and uterine smooth muscle) versus its cardiac effects (Beta 1)
They also inhibit the liberation of chemical mediators of inflammatory cells. Its therapeutic effect lasts for 6 to 8 hours, although its elimination is not completed until about 60 hours after the administration

INDICATIONS
Appropriate choice for pneumonias, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory failures associated with dyspnoea, asthmatic crisis together with bronchospams and cough.
It can also be used to produce relaxation of the smooth muscles of the uterus.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
It is recommended to begin with low doses due to the toxic effects which may appear.
Bronchodilator: O,8µg/kg body weight (2,5mL/100 kg) Every 12 hs until symptoms disappear. Recommended length of treatment: 10 days
Relaxation of uterine muscle: 0.8 to 1.4 µg/kg of body weight (total 7-15 mL)
Single dose Slow IV, IM

CONTRAINDICATIONS
It should not be used in pregnant mares near end of pregnancy.

WARNING
At high doses toxicity can be observed as muscular tremors, perspiration and restlessness.
Keep the product in a clean, dry place between 5ºC and 30º C and out of children’s reach
Veterinary use.
