Enduro 500

Enduro 500 is an injectable metabolic preparation for horses and camels, supplied in a 100 ml vial. Its composition is built around substrates of aerobic energy metabolism — the intermediates of the citric acid cycle and of cellular respiration — rather than around a stimulant.

Composition

Alpha-ketoglutarate, aspartates, inosine, malic acid, NADH and pyruvate. Every one of these is a molecule the muscle cell already uses: alpha-ketoglutarate and malic acid are citric acid cycle intermediates, pyruvate is the end point of glycolysis and the entry point to that cycle, NADH is the electron carrier that drives it, inosine feeds purine salvage and therefore ATP regeneration, and the aspartates support the transfer of amino groups between them.

Indications

Enduro 500 is used in equines and camels for:

• metabolic support of muscle in animals in sustained training;
• support of cardiovascular and respiratory function under physical demand;
• reduction of inflammation and of lactic acid accumulation in working muscle;
• recovery after heavy or prolonged effort.

How it works

Muscle fatigue under sustained effort is in large part a metabolic problem: the aerobic pathway cannot keep up, energy production shifts towards anaerobic glycolysis, and lactate accumulates. Supplying citric acid cycle intermediates and the carriers that drive them is intended to support the aerobic route for longer. This is nutritional and metabolic support, not pharmacological stimulation — it gives the muscle material to work with and does not override fatigue signalling.

Presentation and storage

Sterile injectable solution, 100 ml vial, for intravenous administration. Intravenous injection must be given slowly and by a licensed professional. Store in the original carton, protected from light, at the temperature given on the label. Do not freeze. Disinfect the stopper before each withdrawal and use a sterile needle and syringe. Keep out of reach of children.

Important

Dose, route and interval are set by the attending veterinarian for the individual animal. Metabolic support does not substitute for conditioning, and an animal that fatigues abnormally early should be investigated rather than supplemented — early fatigue is a common first sign of airway disease, cardiac arrhythmia, anaemia and gastric ulceration. Preparations given to animals in work are subject to the medication rules of racing and competition authorities, including rules on the timing of administration before competition; check what applies to your discipline and region before treating a competing animal.
