G- trix

G-trix is a gastric preparation for horses and camels that targets equine gastric ulcer syndrome by suppressing stomach acid production and supporting the protective lining of the stomach.

How it works

Acid-suppressing ulcer treatments of this class act on the proton pump — the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme system in the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa that actively secretes hydrochloric acid. Rather than neutralising acid already present in the stomach the way a simple antacid does, they shut down production at source, which is why the effect is deeper and lasts through the day. With acid load reduced, the mucosa is given the conditions it needs to repair, helped further by stimulation of mucus and bicarbonate secretion.

Indications

• gastric ulceration in horses and camels;
• prevention of ulcer recurrence in animals in training;
• support during periods of intensive work, transport or feed change;
• reduced appetite, poor coat condition or resistance under saddle associated with gastric discomfort.

Why racing and working animals are at risk

Gastric ulceration is common in animals in hard work. Intense exercise raises abdominal pressure and pushes acidic stomach contents against the unprotected upper portion of the stomach lining; long intervals between feeds leave less fibre and saliva to buffer acid. Transport, competition and changes in routine add stress that compounds the effect.

Supplied in the pack size stated on the label. Store in the original packaging, protected from light and moisture, at the temperature given by the manufacturer. Keep out of reach of children.

Gastric ulceration should be confirmed by a veterinarian, ideally by gastroscopy, and treatment courses for this class of product run for several weeks.
