Tonoricin is an injectable metabolic tonic supplying organic phosphorus together with vitamin B12. Preparations of this type are used across cattle, horses, camels, small ruminants, swine and poultry as supportive treatment in metabolic disorders and states of debility.
Composition
Active substances: an organic phosphorus compound of the butafosfan type (the sodium salt of a 4-dimethylamino-substituted phosphinic acid derivative) together with cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). Available in a 30 ml pack.
How it works
Organic phosphorus of this class is an injectable phosphorus source that takes part directly in energy metabolism. It replenishes serum phosphorus, supports liver function, and stimulates fatigued smooth and cardiac muscle. Unlike inorganic phosphate salts it is well tolerated parenterally and enters metabolic pathways without first having to be liberated in the gut.
Cyanocobalamin participates in virtually every metabolic process, most notably the formation of red blood cells, and stimulates protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Combining the two addresses both the phosphorus deficit and the metabolic machinery that needs it.
Indications
- hypophosphataemia;
- pica and depraved appetite in ruminants;
- debility following acute or chronic metabolic disorder;
- conditions arising from poor nutrition or inadequate management;
- developmental and nutritional disorders in young animals;
- secondary ketosis in cattle;
- supportive treatment in tetany, paresis and reduced fertility.
Presentation and storage
Sterile injectable solution, 30 ml vial. Store in the original carton, protected from light, at the temperature stated on the label. Do not freeze. Disinfect the stopper and use a sterile needle for each withdrawal. Keep out of reach of children.
Important
