V-Go

V-Go is an injectable preparation for racehorses and camels, supplied in a 30 ml vial for slow intravenous administration. The manufacturer presents it as an endurance and energy product for animals in sustained work.

Composition

The manufacturer describes the formula as reserved and does not publish the active substances. The composition applicable to the batch supplied is given on the vial label and carton. Read it before use. Where a product is described as containing oxygen enhancers or agents affecting red blood cells, the specific substances matter a great deal: manipulation of oxygen transport is one of the most closely regulated areas in equine and camel sport, and several substances used for it are prohibited outright.

Presentation and route

Sterile injectable solution, 30 ml vial, for slow intravenous administration. Shake before use. Intravenous injection must be given slowly and by someone competent to do so. Store in the original carton, protected from light, at the temperature given on the label. Do not freeze. Disinfect the stopper before each withdrawal and use a sterile needle and syringe. Keep out of reach of children.

Dose, route and interval are set by the attending veterinarian for the individual animal. Preparations intended to raise oxygen-carrying capacity or delay fatigue are governed by the medication rules of racing and competition authorities in essentially every jurisdiction, and are frequently prohibited rather than restricted by a detection time. Where the composition is not published, it cannot be checked against those rules — obtain the full declaration from the supplier before ordering if the animal competes. Raising red cell concentration also raises blood viscosity, which carries genuine cardiovascular risk to the animal independently of any rule.
